When Is Commencement 2009? Commencement will be held on May 23, 2009 at McKenna Theater on the main campus of San Francisco State University in the Creative Arts building. Doors of McKenna Theater will be open at 4:00 p.m. for guest.
What time should arrive? Graduates should arrive at 3:30 pm at McKenna Theater to line up for the ceremony.
What do I need to bring to the ceremony? Graduates need to bring an index card with your name and specialization and emphasis (if you have one) written on the card. Have on the card what you want to be read at the ceremony.
How Do I Get a Commencement Program? The commencement programs with the names of the graduates and program details will be distributed at as the graduates are lining up to enter McKenna Theater. As for the guest they will recieve their program at the door of McKenna Theater as they are entering.
Will there be a reception? Yes, there will be a reception following the ceremony.
How much are the cap and gown? The price of the cap, gown, tassel and hood is $63.95.
Where do I get my cap and gown? Cap and gown rental at the San Francisco State University Bookstore will be on the following dates:
May 11-15, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
May 16, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
May 18-21, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Grad Pak pick up hours will the same as the rental hours. Have original reciept and studnet identification for pick up.
What if I can’t make it to any of the above dates or time to rent my cap and gown?
If you are unable to make it to any of the dates or time there are two options:
1) Have a friend or family member rent the gown for you. In order for another individual to rent a cap and gown for you he or she must bring a letter from you with a photocopy of your student identication card.
2) You may also order your cap and gown over the phone at (415) 338-2665. A valid Mastercard, Visa, or American Express is required for the transaction. A $15.00 service fee will be added to the total amount. The hours and dates to order by phone is between May 11- May 21 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where do I pick up my cap and gown if I ordered by phone?
Cap and gown that are ordered by phone will be avaliable for pick up at the Bookstore’s Textbook department on May 22.
When and where will I be able to pick up my graduation tickets? Graduation tickets will be distributed on the 5 th floor of Burk Hall on the follwing days and times: Monday: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 5:00p.m. Tuesday: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thursday: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
When will be the last day that I will be able to purchase graduation tickests?
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 will be the last day that graduation tickets can be purchased.
